Rich Rentner, a member of Willowbrook High School's Athletic Hall of Fame, recently passed away at the age of 99. Rentner was inducted as an Outstanding Contributor into Willowbrook's Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. "A true Warrior, Rich dedicated over 35 years to Willowbrook athletics," noted the school's athletic department in a social media post last week. "His extensive service includes 20 years managing football concessions and 30+ years as a timer and announcer for basketball, soccer, and wrestling. He also contributed as a Booster Club member, chain gang official, and scorer for volleyball and gymnastics. Rich’s versatile commitment made him the voice and heartbeat of Warrior sports for decades. May he rest in peace.” In addition to contributing to Willowbrook's athletic program, Rentner was a beloved hall monitor at the school. He served in the United States Army during World War II as part of the occupation forces in Japan following the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
