Willowbrook’s boys soccer team kicked off its season by playing Elmwood Park to a 2-2 tie in Villa Park on Aug. 25. Senior Ian Mueller and sophomore Thomas Basista scored first-half goals to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Senior Brayden Dotson assisted Mueller’s goal. Junior Liam Kling provided an assist on Bstista’s goal. Elmwood Park scored a first-half goal to cut Willowbrook’s lead to 2-1 before halftime. The Tigers scored the equalizer in the second half.
The Warriors earned their first victory of the season when they traveled to Peotone High School and beat the Blue Devils 3-2 on Aug. 27. Sophomore Oliver Soltys, junior Miko Sokolowski and junior Vinny Prenant scored one goal each for the Warriors. Prenant, sophomore Hamza Abdoussi and Mueller supplied one assist each.
Willowbrook improved to 2-0-1 following Saturday’s 2-0 triumph over Jones College Prep in Chicago. Dotson and Abdoussi provided one goal each.
The Warriors faced Proviso West earlier this week in Hillside. Willowbrook will open its West Suburban Gold Conference season with a Sept. 8 match at Downers Grove South.
