DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin has announced that John Coakley, 59, of Warrenville, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor public indecency-lewd exposure.
On July 27, a $2,000 personal recognizance arrest warrant was issued for Coakley. He turned himself in to authorities on July 28 and was released following processing. Coakley is the city administrator for the city of Warrenville.
According to the complaint, on July 24 at approximately 9:15 p.m., while at Lifetime Fitness in Warrenville, Coakley “knowingly performed an act of lewd exposure” in the men’s locker room. An investigation into the matter conducted by the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office led to the charges.
“The allegations in this case are disturbing and if proven true, the defendant will be held accountable for his actions” Berlin said. “I thank the Warrenville Police Department for bringing this matter to our attention.”
Coakley’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 29 in front of Judge Monique O’Toole.
