The Villa Park Police Department conducted a traffic safety campaign throughout the month of July to remind motorists to slow down to save lives. The department joined more than 200 state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to take part in the “Speeding Catches Up With You” campaign, which featured increased patrols in an effort to reduce highway fatalities. The statewide speed enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
During the campaign, the Villa Park Police Department issued 130 speeding citations, 15 seat belt citations and 29 other offense citations, along with one DUI arrest, one criminal offense arrest, and two arrests for suspended/revoked licenses.
