Villa Park firefighters respond to fire at home on Terry Lane; no injuries reported

On Monday, June 1, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Villa Park Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a residence in the 200 block of Terry Lane. Upon arrival, crews found fire showing from the roof of a detached garage. According to the fire department, crews quickly deployed a hose line and began extinguishing the fire. Other crews removed the garage door, and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Fire damage was limited to the garage itself, stated the fire department. No surrounding structures or the residence were damaged.

The residents and their dogs were evacuated from the residence as a precaution.

No injuries were reported.

“The fire is believed to have started at an electrical connection to an exterior light, based on a preliminary investigation by the Villa Park Fire Investigation Unit,” related the department.

Crews from Elmhurst, Lombard, Oakbrook, Oakbrook Terrace, and York Center assisted the Villa Park Fire Department on the scene. The Villa Park Police Department also provided assistance.
