Nine Willowbrook High School students competed in the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games, which took place June 12-14 at Illinois State University.
Willowbrook’s standout performers in the games included Milagro Ramirez, who won the first-place medal in the 100-meter walk and placed third in the softball throw.
Amanda Vega placed second in the standing long jump. Elijah Campbell also claimed a second-place medal in the standing long jump for the Warriors. Juan Reyes finished second in the mini javelin throw. Kosti Vasili placed third in the 200-meter dash and earned fourth-place honors in the running long jump. Aidan Schwarz delivered a third-place effort in the tennis ball throw and added a top-10 finish in the 100-meter walk.
Liam Krichbaum of the Warriors finished fourth in the softball throw. Willowbrook’s Ammar Syed placed fifth in the softball throw.
