Mariners open their season with a loss to Bloomingdale

Villa Park’s Ethan Aldana wins three individual events

The Villa Park Mariners began their 2026 DuPage Swim and Dive Conference season with a meet against the Bloomingdale Barracudas on Saturday, June 6, in Bloomingdale. The Barracudas defeated the Mariners 483-103 in the overall team standings.

Villa Park’s Ethan Aldana won three individual events in the meet’s 8-and-under boys division. After winning the 25-yard butterfly in a first-place time of 23.79 seconds, he added victories in the 25-yard backstroke (26.21) and the 25-yard breaststroke (33.98).

Madeline Dahm of the Mariners swam to a win in the 100-yard freestyle in the 9-10 girls level. She completed the race in 1 minute, 47.51 seconds.

Villa Park’s Angelo Macary earned a victory in the 9-10 boys division’s 50-yard backstroke, which he finished in 59.52 seconds.

Phoebe Aldana delivered a win for the Mariners in the 15-18 girls level’s 50-yard breaststroke. She posted a first-place time of 36.95 seconds in the event.

The Mariners’ season continues with this week’s home meets against Roselle and Itasca at Jefferson Pool. Villa Park faced Roselle on June 10, and will compete against Itasca this Saturday, June 13.
