Posted

Ryan Scott of Lombard has qualified for the K1 Speed Go-karting Junior National Championship, which will be held Saturday, May 2 in Winchester, California. The championship will decide the top U.S. Junior champion and Team USA members. Locally, Scott competed in the 2025 season at K1 Speed Addison, finishing first overall with 197 points—24 points ahead of his closest competitor. He then advanced to the state championship, where he earned a third-place podium finish to secure his spot at nationals. Scott has been racing for four years and has been the champion at the Addison K1 Speed location for three of those years (2022, 2024, and 2025). In addition to racing, Scott is a multi-sport athlete at Glen Westlake Middle School, where he plays for the seventh-grade basketball team (which went undefeated this year), the volleyball team, as well as track and cross country. He also plays for the Glenbard East Future Rams (feeder) basketball team and Lombard Thunder baseball. (Submitted photos)
