Sgt. Jim Cihak retired from the Villa Park Police Department last week after 31 years of service.
“Throughout his career, Sgt. Cihak served as a Tactical Officer, Detective, and Sergeant,” stated the police department and the Village of Villa Park in a social media post on June 5.
“He was specially known for his unwavering commitment to traffic safety and DUI enforcement, earning numerous awards and certificates of appreciation from the Illinois Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists. In 2012, the Illinois Department of Transportation recognized him for making more than 300 DUI arrests—a remarkable accomplishment that helped make our roads safer. His dedication to public safety continued throughout his career, including hundreds of traffic citations, ordinance violations, and criminal arrests.
“On behalf of the Village of Villa Park and the Villa Park Police Department, we thank Sgt. Cihak for his professionalism, service, and commitment to protecting our community. We wish him and his family health, happiness, and success in retirement.”
