Chicago House soccer teams go undefeated

Posted

The Chicago House Athletic Club semi-pro men’s and women’s soccer teams went undefeated vs the Green Bay Glory teams in the “Soccer Sunday” double header this past Sunday at Langhorst Field at Elmhurst University.

In the afternoon match-up, the Chicago House women defeated the Green Bay Glory women by the score of 4-0 with all the goals coming in the second half. The first half of soccer was evenly matched with neither team scoring. The Chicago House made a few adjustments at half-time that really made a difference.

“Yeah, the Glory was pressing us hard in the first half and stopped us from getting behind them for chances at goal,” said JJ Ruane, head coach of the Chicago House women. “The team understood the small adjustments we made and were able to take control of the game in the second half.”

The Chicago House women continued their undefeated season and remain in first place in the Lake Shore Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL); the largest women's adult soccer league in the United States.

The Chicago House women will be back in action next week as they travel to Milwaukee to play against the Milwaukee Torrent at 6 p.m. Tap into the Chicago House website (www.chicagohouseac.com) for links to view the live stream of the game

In the night cap of the “Soccer Sunday” double header at Langhorst Field, the Chicago House men’s team came from behind twice to draw the Green Bay Glory men’s team to a 2-2 final score.

“The Green Bay Glory came to play and caught us a little bit slow and flat,” said Shannon Seymour, Chicago House men’s head coach. “Credit to the team for finding a way to battle back twice to level the score and finish with the one point from the game”.

The Chicago House men will play against Chicago rival Edgewater Castle before returning to Langhorst Field in Elmhurst on Saturday, June 27 at 7 p.m. vs. the Bavarians from Glendale, Wisconsin in the night cap of another double header.

In other Chicago House Men’s news, the team will compete for the United States National Amateur Cup Championship on July 24-25 at the 4,000-seat stadium of the Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Chicago House was proud to recognize the championship teams from the Team Elmhurst Soccer Club who were player escorts, sideline ball kids, and played small sided games at half time of both games of the “Soccer Sunday” double header.
